Pilmico’s Mahalin Pagkaing Atin campaign, recognized at the 6th Go Negosyo – Villar Sipag OFW & Family Summit
Pilmico’s flagship advocacy ‘Mahalin Pagkaing Atin’ was recently recognized by Senator Cynthia Villar for its efforts to promote sustainable livelihoods among FIlipinos.
Senator Cynthia Villar cited the Mahalin Pagkaing Atin advocacy during the 6th Go Negosyo – Villar Sipag’s OFW & Family Summit held at the World Trade Center on 15 November 2016. Senator Villar, the Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, commended Pilmico for promoting local agriculture and sustainable entrepreneurship. Senator Villar said:
“The Pilmico beneficiaries are very close to our hearts dahil kabilang dito ang ating mga OFWs. Nagpapasalamat ako dahil nabigyan kami ng pagkakataon na makipagtulongan sa inyo para mabigyan ng kabuhayan and ating mga OFWs.”
During the Summit, select Mahalin Pagkaing Atin beneficiaries – repatriated Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) – were given livelihood kits comprised of piglets (each with one-cycle feed consumption), egg machines (48-chicken set each with one month feed consumption) and bakery starter kits (1-deck 4-tray bread oven, bread rack, working table, a delivery bike and 10 bags of flour). The assistance will enable them to jump start their livelihood through an easy-to-manage business with a quick return on investment, despite the threats of poverty, tragedy or conflict.
The Go Negosyo, Villar Sipag OFW & Family Summit is an annual gathering of OFWs and their dependents where participants acquire business insights from success stories of fellow OFWs and highlights opportunities on direct selling, franchising and agri-business.
As one of the participating companies at the Summit, Pilmico presented various livelihood opportunities covering its Feeds, Flour and Farms businesses. Pilmico Territory Business Managers also gave advice to the attendees on proper animal husbandry and nutrition.
