Pilmico, Mercato Centrale team up to promote local produce
12 June 2015 Manila, Philippines – Aboitiz food subsidiary Pilmico is forging a partnership with food hub operator Mercato Centrale Group to promote use of locally grown produce by Manila’s gourmet, artisanal, organic, and special or unique food concessionaires.
The idea is to instill a mindset of “pride of product, pride of place” not only to Filipino farmers, but also to stress the importance of ‘farm to table’ concept among Manila’s finest food advocates.
The partnership will bring Pilmico’s Mahalin Pagkaing Atin (MPA) campaign – the company’s advocacy to create sustainable livelihood for backyard farmers throughout the country, especially in areas of tragedy, poverty, and conflict – to the working and upper class food aficionados in Manila.
“MPA is a sure-fire formula for small time local backyard farmers to recover business losses and rebuild their lives for those who have been affected by the recent calamities,” said Pilmico president and CEO Sabin Aboitiz.
MPA encourages consumers to patronize food establishments that use locally produced ingredients.
Kick-starting the partnership is Pilmico’s participation in the two-day ‘Belly-sima’ food festival – the first-ever artisan and gourmet food products and natural, healthy, and organic food and non-food products fair that aims to promote local talent in the food industry.
Pilmico will also hold a series of food expo at the Mercato Centrale in Bonifacio Global City, which will bring various regional food delicacies closer to Manileños.
Pilmico is providing its customers with high quality wheat flour and related products since 1962. It also excels in swine production and animal feeds businesses. With its consistent excellence and top-notch products, the company ensures its market competitiveness through increases customer satisfaction. #
