Pilmico team Joins International Coastal Cleanup Day

Pilmico Joins International Coastal Cleanup Day in Tarlac and Bataan

Every year, on the third Saturday of September, the Philippines celebrates International Coastal Cleanup Day. During this day, both the public and private sectors are encouraged to join cleanup efforts in various coastal areas across the country.

This year, Pilmico, an Aboitiz Foods company, collected twelve sacks of waste along the coastlines of the Lucong River in Concepcion, Tarlac, and Balanga, Bataan. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) led the cleanup drive through its local offices, and various Pilmico teams participated at two locations.

On September 21, 2024, Pilmico Farms team members, led by the Safety, Health, and Environment team, cleaned along Lucong River in Concepcion, Tarlac. The team collected five sacks of waste, which typically contribute to clogging the rivers during the rainy season.

Meanwhile, Pilmico Feeds team members headed to Balanga Wetland and Nature Park, Brgy. Tortugas, Balanga City, last September 27, 2024, for the environmental cleanup. Engr. Jason Mugot, Pilmico Assistant Vice President for Feeds was present during the initiative along with the Tarlac Feedmill Environment Team Brian Funte and Jielaine Del Rosario, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Specialist Pinky Baroman, and Government Relations Manager Thet Castillo. Together, they collected seven sacks of assorted waste and ten plastic bottles by the end of the coastal cleanup activity.

In total, participants of the Pilmico cleanup drive collected twelve sacks of waste and ten plastic bottles along the coastlines.

Pilmico’s participation in the International Coastal Cleanup Day in Bataan and Tarlac demonstrated its dedication to environmental stewardship. By removing sacks of waste along these coastal areas, Pilmico helped preserve and protect the overall coastal environment. This initiative aligns with Aboitiz Foods’ greater purpose of Sustainably Feeding Asia’s Growth from Mill to Meal, which aims to nourish not only livestock and people but also emphasize the importance of safeguarding the environment and encouraging sustainable practices.
