Al Vie’s Cakes & Pastries: A Family Affair
Born to a family of bakers from Batangas, Alevie was exposed to bread baking at a young age. The smell of freshly baked pan de sal is an all too familiar scent for Alevie. In fact, since she was 12, she has been helping out with the family business and getting her hands dirty in their bakery.
“My parents own Batangueño Bakery here in Negros Oriental. So bata palang ako, na-expose na talaga ako sa baking. Pero, hindi ko agad pinasok yung baking as a career. I worked for a call center for a while and then noong na-realize ko na passion ko din pala ang baking tulad ng parents ko, I decided to resign.”
Following her resignation, she signed up to every possible pastry workshop. She didn’t just want to franchise her parents’ bread bakery, she wanted to offer something different for the Negrense audience. And thus, Al Vie’s Cakes and Pastries was born.
Armed with her baking experience, she finally opened Al Vie’s Cakes and Pastries in 2014. Like Batangueño Bakery, Al Vie’s Cakes and Pastries is a proud and loyal Pilmico user. Alevie uses Pilmico’s Wooden Spoon all-purpose flour and cake flour for her products. Her best-sellers include chocolate chip banana cupcake, yema cheesecake and pandan cupcake.
“Kahit minsan ay stressful ang pag-bake, especially kapag maraming orders, natutuwa ako kapag nagugustohan ng mga customers ko yong mga ginagawa kong pastries. Iba din ang sense of fulfillment mas lalo na kapag nakaka-innovate ako ng recipes. Nakakapagod… pero masaya – masayang masaya.”
